Lil’ Thing About Me

Born as a first child of three, spend my childhood at one of Saudi commercial city, Jeddah. Live adoring laban (yoghurt), tamiis with fuul or adas, turkish shawerma, some arabians rices: bukhari, mandi, kind of cheese (i’m a cheese freak), and they are always generous with juices. And surely my Mom’s cooking are nutriciously rich, she is an anti-intant food seasoning, and she even made her own pizza.

Peace days, no traffic jams, no smokes, I tell you Saudis have a different night life- they do really work, do businesses and shop more at nights but never drive theirselves to a crazy parties as we could find in the other countries. Ok, there might a private parties, rarely happen and you know it is ”a private” one.

Then I sent to an islamic boarding school since parents weren’t dare yet to let me go to public or any other private school in Jakarta. Spent 3 years there with a wonderfull experiences. Know my home country, people, that was the time I have to wash my own clothes, and learn to share food with roomies in one place as “bebek makan manner”. For the first time in my life, I am infected by MSG (monosodium glutamate) in almost every meal I had. Mom is not happy to know that, she says MSG eats my brain.

Three years later, just right Soeharto quit his regime I was sent to Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia. Once again, my parents were quite freaking to let me study in Jakarta at the crisis time. Another 3 years, I met Nasi Lemak almost every morning, enjoy some Indians cooking, and you must try Tomyam if you feel that you’re not well. “Masuk angin?” Eat Tomyam! the more its hot, the more you fart. But Mom still unhappy, Malaysian love to add MSG into their foods.

I completed my high school and moved away to Jakarta, took my diploma in arabic language, then drove myself to a fool political studies. It was messed up and I leave it for an e-learning communication&journalism and enjoy myself at a fashion design class.

Pecel lele were almost there for me every night when “mentok mood” comes, but I can say I’ve been eat kinds of food along jalan Margonda,Depok. But since we bought a house last 2 years, I started to cook on my own. Cooking is entertaining. I tried recipees, my boyfriend challanged me to eat sushi which some couldn’t take it- you know they’re mostly uncooked. But he has to face the fact that I become a sushi lover, and I make sushi, but sometimes you just dont have to really look at it, I’m not that good yet in cutting and rolling them to make it fancy. Just eat it, it taste good.

Did I just write you that I eat a lot? I’m a food adventurer…-liaB-
